Does anyone even use Facebook chat?

Has anyone ever used Facebook chat?

Wasn’t the point of Facebook just to see pictures and leave messages for people so they could read later, kinda like a real facebook/yearbook?  If you wanted to talk to someone, leave a message on the wall, send a message if need be.

How many go out of their way to chat with someone?  Now, I’m sure there are people that use the chat function regularly I find it goes mostly unused.  Although, I can see why people would prefer not to use it.  Certain people on their friends lists they’d rather not talk to, people that ramble on forever and ever (sounds like me almost – that’s why I got a blog), those few that try to use it as a replacement for lavalife (…no comment), people that added you a long time ago but you can’t quite remember from where they came from.  There’s a long list of reasons.

One thing against this function is if you have a really old browser you have to use the “Pop Out” chat.  You never know if anyone is actually talking to you when you minimize it.  It just seems like a waste of an idea/application on Facebook.  Not that any of the other apps you can get for the site are waste less time.  Besides, isn’t that what MSN/AIM was for?  However, I suppose that Facebook is trying to keep itself alive slowly and trying not to become like Myspace – which is probably a good thing.

I know Facebook is trying to be everything to everyone but there might be some limitations on that philosophy and I think this is one of them.

One time, Facebook chat got me into some trouble with the local law enforcement here in town.  Funny story really, someone used my account and found a friend that he knew and they planned this big drug thing.  Long story short, after I got my computer back from the police and my back stopped hurting from having a knee dug into it, I took them off my friends list.

Now, how do make this post private…
