The American Healthcare Debate…

September 8th, 2009 · Comments

So, the number one topic on most the minds of most Americans is the healthcare.

Some Americans don’t want public health care.  Many pundits have been trying to convince the public, and in some cases have been successful, that public health care is bad.  It’s evil, it’s horrible!

Apparently getting guaranteed coverage is bad.  Lots of other websites take a look at Canadian healthcare and our horror stories and use it as an example of what’s wrong with healthcare.  I’m not saying that it’s perfect but let’s compare a few things…

If you get something and you aren’t covered, the chances of you getting coverage are slim to nil.  Insurance companies are here to profit off of people’s misery, not help them.  If I were a far more horrible person, I’d buy stock in one of these companies.

Up here, you fill out a few forms and you’re about to start treatment.  I don’t see what’s wrong with that.  I love reading comments from people that and I paraphrase, “would take their outdated private healthcare plan” instead of a new and much better plan.  In a perfect world, nobody would be sick, but now I’m just channeling John Lennon.

Up here, there’s been talk of two-tier healthcare.  If the rich keep buying better healthcare, how long before the rich try and outbid each other for OR time?  How does that help anyone?

I’m willing to bet dollars to donuts that in 20 years, someone that opposes the current bill on the way to the American congress/senate will be denied private healthcare.

It’s inevitable that in 20 years we’ll hear or read about someone like that.
