Not Necessarily a Review of the Emmy’s

September 21st, 2009 · Comments

Well during my “Weekend Post” update, I said I’d give a review of the Emmy’s.  Well, I was going to and then my cable went out.  So, my question to you is, how was it?

Anyone, anyone?  Bueller?

Well, while I didn’t get to enjoy or was lucky to have avoided it, the show got some good ratings apparently.  NPH can save the ratings at least.  Looking back at last year’s show…5 hosts?  I hope they at least made fun of that last night. We are at a time where people are increasingly downloading and watching things “on demand” and who knows, maybe there won’t be any Emmy awards in the future – or at the very least televised ones.  And it’s a shame, and not just the Emmy’s but all shows in general.  Even with all these future magical legal websites offering programming, will there be any hit’s ever again?  Is Friends going to be the last Friends-type show out there?  And more importantly, if these legal websites do exist, will they ever be available in Canada?  Key word being legally?

But now I’m getting a little heavy up there, I did promise a review so review I shall!  While my cable was out – along with my internet mind you – I popped in a few DVD’s and enjoyed some good old fashioned American cable series!  To start off the night, I watched some Reno 911! last night.

Season 6 had it’s moments, but I felt that it wasn’t the same without Garcia, Johnson or even Kimball.  Maybe the show did end off at a good point.  It is a shame they didn’t make it to the magic 100 episode mark.

I saw the season premiere of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia as well.  Fucking classic episode I might add.  The entire episode was filled with references to previous seasons – meaning if you are a first time viewer, you’d probably have trouble keeping up.

My only problem was the lawyer character – also a callback to a previous season.  He was good and the character was definitely needed to further the plot around, I just felt he didn’t add enough to the episode.  Perhaps if he did something else in his Season 3 appearance, I’d feel differently.  Should this character reappear in a future episode – and it’s likely he will – hopefully he does something outrageous enough to earn him the title of recurring character.

Well, again, promised you a review was delivered.  Television is still producing the hits and I for one encourage everyone to keep watching television.  And maybe next year my cable company won’t suck and I’ll actually get a chance to dip into the Emmy show.

I wonder if somebody torrented it?
